  • Title Of Presentation : Perspectives of Deprescribing held by New Zealand Nursing and Pharmacy Professionals

Denise Taylor is a senior lecturer who teaches clinical pharmacology, applied pathophysiology and into prescribing and multi-disciplinary Masters programs. Her subject expertise is in the appropriate use of medicines and social prescribing. Katherine’s research center’s on public mental health, older persons’ health and the lay perspectives of medicines and health services. The main settings for this research are the community, primary health care and secondary health care organizations. She is also involved in research collaborations exploring the role of exercise and technology in older people. Denise has 41 peer reviewed publications and has supervised 72 students for their Masters or PhD

Ann McGowan is a full-time Associate Professor within the Associate Degree Nursing program at Germanna Community College located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA.  She possesses over ten years of nurse educator experience and has held various faculty and leadership roles throughout her tenure.  She actively teaches across the Concept-Based Curriculum in the Medical-Surgical and Capstone Clinical courses.  Additionally, she assists in the mentoring process of new faculty members to their novice nurse educator roles within their respective teaching assignments.  In her spare time, Dr. McGowan enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor activities, and participating in community volunteer events.

Larry E Simmons currently serves as Director of the Certification program at the National League for Nursing based in the United States. He recently retired from academia, having taught graduate and doctoral nursing courses over the last several years. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a PhD in Nursing in 1999. He holds certifications as a nurse educator and as a nurse executive, having also owned a consulting agency in nursing education for 10 years. He is a well-known speaker, particularly focusing on nursing faculty development.

She is currently leading another EU funded project IENE 8, aiming in empowering migrant and refugee families on parenting skills. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus University of Technology and Vice President of the European Transcultural Nurses Association.

Paula Foran has a Graduate Diploma in Adult Education & Training awarded from the University of Melbourne, a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment & Training, a master’s degree in professional education & Training and has received her PhD for her thesis from Deakin University  ‘The Value of Guided Operating Theatre Experience for Undergraduate Nurses’. She has a number of publications to her credit including published articles and book chapters, & has been a guest speaker, and presented keynote presentations at national & international conferences. She has been awarded the ‘Most Popular Presenter’ for her keynote address at the International Collaboration of Perianaesthesia Nurses, and more recently the Best Oral Paper award at the European Operating Room Nurses conference in The Hauge. She also co-ordinates two subjects at a master level at the University of Tasmania and is a senior lecturer for Critical Care Education Service. She is the Education Officer and the Member Director for the Australian College of Operating Room Nurses.
