Communicable disease is a one which spreads from one person to other by various ways that include contact with blood, and body fluids, respiratory illness like whooping cough can be contacted, breathing in an air borne virus or bitten by insect. Communicable disease is caused by microorganism such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. They are caused directly or indirectly from one person to another person. Some are transmitted through bites from insects others are caused by contaminated food and water.
Communicable diseases spread through
Physical contact with the infected person, through touch(Staphylococcus), fecal or oral transmission(hepatitis A ), droplets (influenza, TB), sexual intercourse(gonorrhea, HIV)
Contact with a contaminated surface or object (Norwalk virus), blood (hepatitis b), water (cholera) and food (salmonella, E. coli)
Travel through air such as tuberculosis or measles.
Bites from insects or animals capable of transmitting the disease( mosquito: malaria and yellow fever; flea: plague)

Hepatitis: Hepatitis is the major cause of death, it is the infalamation of liver by a viral infection. There are main 5 types of hepatitis viruses that cause acute and chronic infection as types A, B, C, D AND E. Particularly type B and C are leading to chronic disease in hundred millions of people worldwide. In Europe region an estimated of 15 million people are with hepatitis B and 14million people are infected with hepatitis C.
In western pacific 9% of hepatitis B and 20%of hepatitis C virus infected persons are diagnosed.
HIV/AIDS: In 2016 more than 160,000 people are newly diagnosed HIV infected persons in the European region, of newly diagnosed people 17% belong to western part of the region, 80% belong to eastern part and 4% belong to the central part.
Rotavirus: 25% of all diarrhoeal illness in children under age 5 and by age 5years children are exposed to this virus with a quarter experiencing the symptoms of infection.
Poliomyletis : It is a highly infectious and death causing disease , which invades the nervous system, can cause life long paralysis. In 2002 all 53 countries in the Europe region are polio-free.
