Larry E Simmons currently serves as Director of the Certification program at the National League for Nursing based in the United States. He recently retired from academia, having taught graduate and doctoral nursing courses over the last several years. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a PhD in Nursing in 1999. He holds certifications as a nurse educator and as a nurse executive, having also owned a consulting agency in nursing education for 10 years. He is a well-known speaker, particularly focusing on nursing faculty development.

Currently working on a research studying the impact of a nurse ambassador programme on raising the community awareness about nursing, and a research studying the readiness of graduate nurses for practice.

Her PhD thesis was titled: Women’s Experiences of Maternal Fetal/Infant Attachment during the Transition to New Motherhood using IPA.

Her  research combines community and transcultural health in relation to culture and gender. She recently led UEFGM EU funded project. She is currently leading another EU funded project IENE 8, aiming in empowering migrant and refugee families on parenting skills. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus University of Technology and Vice President of the European Transcultural Nurses Association.
